Fans of 90's and early 2000's platformers alike have been excited about Yooka-Laylee. And if not, it's probably because they haven't heard of it. That must be it, since the the entire point of the game is to be a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie. And with each little video or screenshot we see, that point gets more and more clear. This time, the newest trailer from Team 17 and Playtonic Games features some new characters we haven't seen before.

First of all, the game is absolutely Banjo-Kazooie. The entire thing screams it. The graphics. The voices. The style. Everything. But anyway, the newly revealed characters seem to bring a bit of personality to the mix. There's Trowzer, the snake (not sure how they got away with that one). Then there's Dr. Quack, the duck stuck in a gumball machine. Rexto seems to be a digital T-Rex. Dr. Puzz looks like some kind of octopus who has taken Mumbo's job of transforming the heroes into useful forms. To finish it off, the video introduces us to Blasto (the cannon) and Kartos (the mine cart). Aside from that, the only named character we see is Shovel Knight (from Shovel Knight).

Suffice it to say, Yooka-Laylee is going to have an amazing cast of characters. And as a huge fan on Banjo-Kazooie, I am really excited to see more.
