Star Wars Battlefront 2 to have a Single-Player Campaign.

DICE, the folks who brought you the overhyped but underperforming Star Wars Battlefront, and the overhyped and decently performing Battlefield 1, are back at it this year and are hard at work on Battlefield 2, otherwise known as the Battlefield game we should have had the first time if it weren’t for that damn movie rushing things.

Now, there were a lot of things the first game dropped because of said rushing, but perhaps the biggest issue was the lack of a single-player campaign, which the previous Battlefront games had, and were treasured. There was fear, following the complete focus on multiplayer, that DICE would continue that trend in future games, but thankfully Battlefield 1 came with a short, albeit satisfying single-player experience and it sated people quite nicely.

Battlefield 2 will reportedly continue that trend, and when it’s released later this year, will have a more robust single-player mode for you to enjoy solo.

This was revealed to us, of course, over Twitter:

"Our next Star Wars: Battlefront will be taking players into more locations, and allowing them to play with more heroes and characters across multiple Star Wars eras, There will be new ways to play, including an all-new single player campaign, and much much more that we are excited to share with our players in the months ahead."

It certainly sounds comprehensive. The fact that it’s going to take place over multiple eras also hints at the idea that the game’s single-player campaign will likely look similar to what they did for Battlefield 1, offering a number of short stories rather than one comprehensive campaign. Or, time travel.

Either way works for me.

We still don’t know exactly when Battlefield 2 will be coming out, except that it’ll be coming this year. In the meantime, you can re-watch the prequels until your eyes bleed. Or something. I’m bad at managing my free time.
