Don't worry, he's got plans.

Producer JP Kellams has left Platinum Games after almost a decade. He has not confirmed whether or not he left because of the cancellation of Scalebound, but even if it wasn't the sole factor, it most likely played into his decision. Kellams was supposedly on the Scalebound team since its very beginning, and eventually, he led a team of over 100 developers on the title. Scalebound was an extremely ambitious title that was supposed to release in 2017 on both Xbox One and PC. Many people, including myself, were very disappointed when the news surfaced of its cancellation.

Personally, I found the art amazingly beautiful, and the concept of the game extremely cool. If I was disappointed about Scalebound's Cancellation, I can imagine how the team of developers felt, including Kellams, who spent years of their life working on a piece of art. Not seeing your dreams come to fruition has got to hurt, and shortly after it's cancellation, JK Kellams has decided to move on. He didn't make any comments on why he was leaving, other than that it's in his nature to part ways. Kellams sounds like he's excited to start a new path, in a new direction, and he expressed his love for everyone he's worked with in Japan over the last 10 years.

"15 years ago, I came to Japan to fulfill my childhood dream of making games with my heroes," he said. "No matter how hard the day, I always walked into the office in awe of the creativity around me, and with the joy that working with each and every one of my coworkers brought me. It is hard to say goodbye to them, to PlatinumGames, and to Japan. Yet, embracing new challenges is part of my DNA, and after almost 10 years of working with the team (more with my Capcom/Clover days), it is time to move on to new challenges that I'm excited to share soon. I'll be forever grateful to all people who have touched this journey, because they've shaped who I am."

Kellams worked at Capcom in the localization and game writing department before joining Platinum Studios. Whether or not we hear of his whereabouts anytime soon, Im quite looking forward to seeing what plans he has in store for the gaming community. He also changed his Twitter Bio, and I don't think he could have worded it any better:

"Currently riding bikes. Or drinking beer. Nah. Probably just eating donuts."
