New ranks, new confusion.

Season 3 of Rocket League has officially ended and the new season has begun. Psyonix loves to make changes in between seasons and they did not hesitate to do so one again this time around. Before we talk about changes, let’s talk about their rewards of choice all the seasons.

The first season they handed out an exclusive topper. You would get a crown depending on where you placed in the season. I got silver, so I was able to get the silver crown and that’s all. In season two, they started granting every tier of reward up to your rank. This was when they handed out the boost to everybody Depending on what your highest rank was for the season, you received every tier of boost up until your rank. For example, I finished challenger and received both the challenger and prospect boost trails.

At the end of season three, Psyonix decided it was time for wheels. They again continued the tradition of handing out every wheel up to your rank, so I ended up getting prospect, challenger, and star wheels (which look amazing by the way). I was really happy they went with wheels this time around and I’m wondering what’s up next. Maybe an antenna or a decal? Who knows.

The big change Psyonix has now implemented involved the ranks. They completely reworked the rank system and instead of Prospect, Challenger, Star, and Champion, they’ve taken a more traditional approach. Players will be ranked either Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Champion. This will give people a better chance to get placed where they belong and play against others with a similar MMR. I’m sure it’s still in the works, but we’ll keep you updated!
