The best-known Walking Dead video game might be from TellTale, but that’s not the only video game that’s been based off the famous comic series/TV show. The series includes an FPS game called Survival Instinct, released back in 2013, and a mobile RPG called The Road to Survival, which was launched in 2015. And now, we’re getting yet another zombie-smashing game based in the same universe—and it’s looking to be the most technically impressive and ambitious yet.

From the developers of Payday, lemme introduce you to The Walking Dead.

…Yep, that’s what it’s called. Specifically, Overkill’s The Walking Dead, because apparently they think they’re Hideo Kojima now. Regardless, the game is a co-op funfest where you and your three friends make a base in Washington DC and try to survive as best you can as the world worsens around you. But not only will you find yourself battling the undead you’ll also be clashing with your fellow survivors, because that’s kind of the only thing that makes The Walking Dead stick out compared to other zombie stories.

The trailer specifically shows off a fellow named Aidan, an Architect who presumably uses his talents to improve the base you all share. I dunno. There wasn’t any gameplay in the trailer so that’s all speculation. What we do know is that each of the four characters has their own skills, stories, and specialties, and that the game will be set relatively soon after the outbreak. So it’s safe to say none of them happen upon a cure in their adventures.

We’ll likely be seeing more characters and gameplay as Overkill releases more videos. We have plenty of time to kill until then: they expect the launch to happen near the end of next year. So you know what to put on your Christmas list for 2018, eh?
