ESPN Claims To Have Documents Regarding Overwatch 2

Namely, documents that prove it exists.

Blizzcon is right around the corner -- literally this Friday -- and while it hasn't even started yet it promises to be one of, if not the, most exciting Blizzcons ever. For one, Blizzard has a lot to answer for last year's, which 'climaxed' with a reveal of an extremely ill-received Diablo mobile spin-off. For two, there has already been rumors that hotly anticipated games will be making an appearance, and for three, the community seems to genuinely still be fuming from the Blitzchung incident that revealed Blizzard's deep-rooted ties and subservience to the oppressive Chinese government. So there's a lot to look forward to -- even if you're not a big fan of their games.

Anyway, one of the games rumored to make an appearance this go around is Overwatch 2, which has been a subject of some curiosity for fans, especially since Blizzard has apparently ruined the first one forever with that whole role-locking thing. While we don't know for certain what it's all about yet, ESPN, of all groups, claims to have proof that Overwatch 2 is going to be announced at Blizzcon -- and that they know what it's all about.

Their leaked documents tell a fairly familiar story, to those keeping up with Overwatch 2 rumors -- it's going to have a much bigger emphasis on PvE and story. Apparently there's going to be a full-fledged 4-person campaign set in Rio de Janeiro. Overwatch the first, of course, had special events and limited-time modes that included PvE and story-based content, but this promises to be far more involved and lengthy.

The other bit of news is that there will be a new game mode added -- called "Push" -- a new map based in Toronto, and at least one new hero. They also suggest, although this isn't much of a prediction, that it will be playable at Blizzcon.

Frankly, it sounds nice for Overwatch fans -- but it also sounds like more of an expansion of Overwatch than a proper sequel, something that could easily be added to the first game. But then if they did that, you wouldn't have to spend 60 more bucks, and your cosmetics wouldn't be reset so you'd have no reason to get those loot boxes.

Oh well. That's the way of things, I guess.
