This article is your yearly reminder that LAN parties do exist and continue to be a staple for many gaming groups worldwide. In fact, there are plenty of LAN events popping up every year, including the legendary annual QuakeCon held in Dallas.

So, if you have a good ol' fashioned LAN party on the brain and want to attend one - or even host one (we can help you out with our guide to LAN parties!) - you're going to want to suggest or bring some of the best LAN party games for maximum fun.

Of course, you can always rely on our guide to modern LAN compatible games, but I've written this four years ago. And a lot, in the games industry, anyway, can happen in just four years.

So these particular games I listed are still considered modern, but at the same time, they are not as modern as they could be. So, I'm back with a brand-new, freshly updated list, dubbed: Your Guide to Modern LAN Compatible Games - 2019 Edition.

Basically, I will list the top 15 games to consider for your LAN party. Alongside the titles I will provide you with a brief synopsis as well as the technical specifications, so you can decide whether or not everyone attending will have laptops capable of supporting.

Note: These games will have been released between 2017 and July 2019.

So without further ado, here is our list of several even-more-modern LAN-compatible games.

List of LAN-Compatible Games

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the sequel to the original Divinity: Original Sin, a 4-player co-op RPG where you can essentially shape your own story and characters (with maximum customization). The second title is more in-depth, characterization wise - as in there are built in stories for several characters that you can choose, though you can also create a custom character without a backstory.

Splatoon-2.jpg

Splatoon 2

Number of Players: 4

A kid-friendly shooter featuring tons of ink and a post-apocalyptic backstory. Yes, the story is... actually downright depressing, but you can have tons of fun with friends via competitive mode or co-op mode.

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Honorable Mention: I have one quick mention. What should be on this list is Rocket League, the awesome LAN-compatible soccer/car hybrid, but the reason why I haven't exactly added it onto the list is due to the fact it will be Epic exclusive in the future - as Epic acquired developer Psyonix - and thus taken down from the Steam store pages.
