You Can Still Suplex a Train in the Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster

And yes, it will be upside-down.

The Final Fantasy games have an established pattern of behavior to their games. One of the quirkier remarks is the tendency for the player to fight large, mundane structures. The literal house you fight in FF7 is a perfect example. So is it really that surprising to hear that we will be able to properly suplex a whole train in the upcoming Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster?

Originally released on the SNES back in 1994, Final Fantasy 6 featured an encounter with a Phantom Train. During this fight, the martial artist character Sabin is able to perform a move called Meteor Strike. The move is essentially a powerful suplex, which would flip the enemy upside down upon impact.

To promote the upcoming Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster release, the official Final Fantasy Twitter account posted a small video clip of this exact thing happening, assuring everyone that Yes, you can still suplex the train in Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster.

The video clip wasnt met with as much appreciation as they were expecting, however. Many folks remarked that the train did not flip upside down, thus not making it a suplex. Some were nicer about this than others. And some folks were disregarding it entirely to remark on the font (another controversial topic regarding the remaster, apparently).

Either way, developer Square Enix responded, stating that they can fix that particular issue (the train flip, not the font).

Were still hard at work polishing Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster in time for launch next week, and we saw some of your comments that the Phantom Train didnt flip during Meteor Strike. The video was taken from a pre-release version, and will be adjusted in time for launch!

Its a silly and small detail, to be sure. But sometimes the silly and small details are what makes a game special. Were glad theyre making sure to fulfil that particular aspect of the game.

The Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster will release on Steam and mobile devices on February 23. It will feature higher resolution, improved art and music, QoL changes, and other improvements.
