WoW Account Services Getting More Expensive in the UK and EU

While Hearthstone card packs have already gone up in price, Blizzard is now making raising the price of World of Warcraft account services solely in the United Kingdom and Europe starting on the 5th of April. This change in price is most likely because of the effect that Brexit has had on the pound along with the Euro still being so low. However you try to justify this action, WoW players are not happy at all; understandably so. World of Warcraft is already arguably the most expensive MMORPG game out there, not for no reason, but still, this change to account service pricing does not help.

Luckily, the subscription cost will not be going up, at least not yet, but other account services will be. WoWHead has a complete breakdown of the price changes:

Character transfers - 20 to 25/£19
Name changes - 8 to 10/£9
Race changes - 20 to 25/£19
Faction changes - 20 to 25/£19
Character boosts - 50 to 60/£49

European players are terribly upset and are hitting forums with no remorse. World of Warcraft's account services are already much more expensive than other popular MMO's, and this recent change has sparked anger within the hearts of European fans. After all, players continue to pay the expensive rates for World of Warcraft simply because no other game has been able to match or beat the experience it offers, and as such, they're pricing is in its own category. Only Blizzard could pull off costs like this in an MMO these days, but now, European players have had enough.

"I love WoW but I'm really soured by this artificial 'Blizzard tax' we've got, and now they have the gall to increase the prices," writes Reddit user  8-Brit. This decision by Blizzard has definitely sparked a storm, but I don't think anyone can do anything to change these price changes. Blizzard has gotten away with their pricing all these years because of the sheer popularity and quality of the game; nobody can argue against, but its a debate that has definitely started back up again. If you're a player in the EU, I'd make purchases before the 5th if you've been planning to. Our prayers go out to you.
