When many think of gaming, there are a number of stereotypes that are often associated with it, that is more often than not very negative. But as the industry continues to grow and more and more references are made in Hollywood, there are more and more people diving into some of the worlds leading titles on a number of consoles. With titles such as Super Mario Brothers, FIFA and Red Dead Redemptions seeing a large number of units sold per year, there is a game for everyone.

Virtual Reality

When looking into immersive gaming, there is a strong need for your game to be interesting from start to finish. Not only does it have to look great, but it also has to play well and have a storyline that will keep gamers wanting more even after completing the main campaign. One of the ways that game developers are doing this is through the implementation of virtual reality. With a number of titles such as a realistic and exciting gaming experience in 3D slots, or a first-person shooter, there are a number of new ways for gamers to fully enjoy the experience.

With Samsung Gear, Google Daydream and Oculus Rift to name just a few, there are a number of new and exciting games finding their way onto a number of VR platforms. The most popular of these games that made their way to VR was Fall Out 4 in 2017 as this HTC Vive exclusive was the perfect expansion of the original title, allowing users to explore the world they love in a whole new way.

Augmented Reality

In addition to the VR capabilities of immersive gaming, there has also been a popular choice for a number of game developers, particularly on mobile devices. With popular titles from Niantic such as Wizards Unite released in June 2019, you can enjoy the wizarding world of Harry Potter like never before. This game saw huge success following the phenomenon that was Pokémon Go.

In addition to these games created by Niantic, there are a number of AR titles that are ready to be released, one of which is Minecraft Earth. This game is yet another interesting way to play Minecraft that has had major success on PC, console and mobile devices. With Minecraft Earth, you get the gameplay you know and love with your friends in the real world. Targeted at all age groups this GPS AR game is set to be the next big thing upon its release.

In addition to this, augmented reality is also making its way into traditional board games. Though this is only in the early stages of development, this newfound technology is being used by brand Tilit Five to create the first augmented reality board game bringing a whole new outlook on a traditional family game night.

Fully Developed Storylines

In addition to this different gameplay, gaming is lending itself to amazing story writing. One of the biggest examples of this is The Last Of Us, released in 2013 as well as other popular titles such as the Tomb Raider reboot, as well as Red Dead Redemption. When a plot is in-depth, well thought out and works well in terms of character development, this is when you create a fully immersive title.

With a number of fully immersive games out there, it is no surprise that people in the UK alone are enjoying a number of games on multiple consoles. Whether this is immersive PC gaming, or an Xbox or PlayStation exclusive, the storyline is crucial for game developers to create an in-depth experience for players.

This is the future of immersive gaming as Microsoft is set to eliminate loading times and maintain the perfect experience for games of all experience levels. Though there is still a number of details that are yet to be revealed regarding this brand-new console, this is set to be flying off the shelves when it is released in the holiday season of 2020.
