Valve to Make Their Own Dota Auto Chess Mode

Dota is one of the most popular PC games there is. With nearly one million active users every day, it's almost intimidating how big the game is. It only makes sense that an overwhelmingly popular mod for the game would be picked up by Valve and made into an official game mode. Dota Auto Chess is coming to Dota 2.

According to a post by Valve, they've spoken with the Drodo Studio team (the people who made the Dota Auto Chess mod) and will be making their own version of the mod with the creator's blessing.

"We had great conversations, but we both came to the conclusion that Valve and Drodo could not work directly with each other for a variety of reasons. We ended up agreeing that well each build our own stand-alone version of the game, and support each other to the fullest."

To further show support for the studio, Valve also spoke about Drodo's standalone non-Dota mobile game, encouraging people to check it out.

Drodo is equally enthusiastic about this decision, making their official statement below.

We appreciate the great encouragements, support and help that Valve offered on Dota Auto Chess and Drodo's standalone game. Valve has been a great company, who gave birth to the Steam Platform and open community like Workshop, enabling millions of players to display their talents. Being a fan of Dota2, we have great confidence in Valve's new game, and expect the next world-class game. In the meantime, with Valve's support, Drodo will continue updating the DAC mod, and attempt to design new modes and adaptations in our stand-alone game. More information about Valve's Dota Auto Chess will be released in the near future, once they have more to show for it.

This is a pretty classy move for Valve to make, we can respect that.
