Valheim, the viking sim created by 5 extremely talented people, has been doing gangbusters. In a new financial report by Embracer Group, the folks who are publishing the title, we learned that it’s sold nearly 7 million copies so far.

“The quarter was driven by the release of Valheim, selling more than 6.8 million copies during the period. This truly amazing game continues to find new players globally and we expect another 1.0-1.2 million copies to be sold before the close of the current quarter ending June.”

Apparently, Valehim was so successful it single-handedly carried the company to some rather impressive growth. This also probably means that the 5-person team behind the game is doing quite well for themselves as well, as I doubt the Embracer Group would want to let this particular golden goose escape the pin.

Still, for all its success, it seems there’s been no talk about expanding Valheim’s team or speeding up its development: I guess the folks trust this small, close-knit team to continue to work their magic. There’s certainly merit in that, many of the best games were made by extremely small teams, but it does mean we’ll need to stay patient for larger updates to this title.

I don’t think most people will mind the wait, tho.
