Ubisoft Reveals Rainbow Six Siege

Say good-bye to Patriots, say hello to Siege

So with a relatively safe E3 press conference, with only a motion based fitness game being a new announcement, thankfully Ubisoft ended things on a pretty high note. Rainbow Six: Patriots was announced three years ago and then was quietly canned... or "retooled" depending on your perspective of things.

The conference ended with Rainbow Six Siege, which oddly enough featured two 5 person teams. The gameplay took place during a hostage standoff between what seemed to be a swat team (or counter-terrorism unit) and an armed group of criminals. The people "performing" the gameplay were perhaps a tad over dramatic in delivering their obviously scripted lines to each other- but the game looks pretty solid nonetheless. It is also hard to not instantly draw similarities to EA's Battlefield: Hardline, which is thematically similar. There is also a similar amount of destructible environments, which seem key to playing the game.

Graphically I'd say the game is a couple steps up from Battlefield: Hardline, having the luxury of only being on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is set to be released next year and there is a promise of more trailers to come following this initial one....which unfortunately is the same "demo" from the press conference.
