Cross-play.
Specifically, he said:
“Our goal is to put crossplay on all the PvP games we have, over time. That’s well on the way.”
With Sony apparently having stepped out of the way and finally allowing gaming companies to promote cross-play between it and other consoles, there’s theoretically nothing except back-end work standing between any games and cross-play, which are certainly missing for games like For Honor and Rainbow Six: Siege. The real question, though, is if people even want cross-play between consoles and PC, because many times people have claimed the differences in controls prevents the competition from being fair, such was the case with Fortnite.
But – and this is a big but – if your game is slowly losing people, cross-play would be necessary to keep queue times low and to ensure people can always find others to play with. So there are ups and downs abound.
There was no word on when this might be implemented, or what games would get it first.
