The more I think on it, the more I realize Titanfall and Destiny had the opposite problems.  Sure, both were sci-fi multiplayer-focused shooters, and that's pretty swell, but while everyone agreed Titanfall was great, it had no staying power, and people just kind of forgot about it after a few months.  Destiny, on the other hand, while people said it was kinda meh overall, somehow managed to overcome its crippling addiction to mediocrity and continues to be played to this day, even, somehow, winning a GOTY award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards for some reason.

Anyway.  Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment was at the British Academy of Film and Television awards as well, and took some time to talk to IGN on the subject of the Titanfall 2 Sequel that was announced by EA just the other day.  According to studio head Vince Zampella

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or... yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform,"

Thats right, multiplatform.  And not just PC/Xbox One multiplatform either--the PS4 as well.  While the first game remains an exclusive to Microsoft, the sequel, now that they have the money and funding from their first game, can be free of those exclusive restrictions and will be available to all.  Unless you have a Wii U, naturally, that should go without saying.

He continued to say that while a single-player mode in Titanfall 2 wasn't impossible, he also suggested its not likely.

"We set out to [make the game multi-player only] and it was one of our goals. I mean it obviously prohibits a certain group of people playing the game, and as content creators you want to get into as many peoples's hands as possible. We put some single-player elements in there though, and tried to mix it up."

If you wanted more information about the game itself, well, I'm afraid you're out of luck.  Other than to off-handedly applaud Evolves use of free DLC maps, he was tight-lipped about what we can expect in the sequel.  Still, knowing its coming to PS4 is pretty big, right?
