Thrall's Coming Back to the Horde in World of Warcraft

Wait, he was gone?

There was a time, not long enough ago, when I used to play World of Warcraft pretty religiously. The Cataclysm days. Since then, there have been many more expansions and many more developments in the story, which, since last I left it, was just “big dragon is scary ooo.” We’ve had the discovery of panda-people, always nice, Alliance and Horde battled against infernal legions, and some other stuff probably happened too. I don’t know, like I said, I typically try to ignore that stuff. Last I heard, Sylvanas, the undead queen person, was ruling the Horde and wasn’t doing a great job of it. Or maybe she’s doing too good a job. Point is people don’t like her very much.

And in a new cinematic released to promote an upcoming update to the Battle of Azeroth expansion, it seems the Horde is gearing up to enter a full-on civil war against their undead queen.

I might have no idea what’s going on, but I’m not blind, so it’s always fun to watch and admire the cinematic genius of Blizzard at work. Plus, it did kind of make me nostalgic for World of Warcraft, in its own silly way, although the obligatory combat section was fairly disappointing this time around. I mean, I, at least, would have been perfectly happy looking at more of that CGI wheat. It was a real welcome treat when you’re stuck in a gloomy office all day.

Anyway. The update that this cinematic exists to promote looks pretty cool as well, if you’re still playing the game in any case. It’s supposed to be enormous, adding two new zones, Heroic Warfronts (whatever the hell those are) and an overhauled Heart of Azeroth system (which again, is probably something really cool).

That’ll be coming out soon.
