It's a Henry Stikmin reference.

After some teasing online InnerSloth has finally revealed their next map to the tremendously popular social deception game, Among Us. Introducing The Airship!

The new map was announced during the 2020 Game Awards, where the title managed to win both Best Mobile game and Best Multiplayer. Those familiar with the developers other games will notice that the Airship is based on the climactic finale of the Henry Stikmin Collection.

As such, the reveal trailer is chock full of references to Stikmin and their escapades. We see new cosmetic options based on various characters within the game, scene recreations, and more.

To be honest, this announcement comes as little surprise to us. The Among Us Twitter account had been teasing the new map for a while before the announcement, showing zoomed-in screenshots and such. Those familiar with their other work would be able to notice the similarities.

What DOES surprise us are the various new features the map will contain. The Twitter account revealed additional information about the map, including all new tasks, your choice of what room to start in, ladders?!, and more?

The most interesting change, to us, is the option to start the game in different rooms. With traitors often being able to kill as soon as the round starts, this could potentially mean that choosing the wrong room can mean immediate death.

The new map will be added to the main game, available on Steam and Mobile, some time in early 2021.
