The Mummy Demastered Released Date Announced

WayForward's Zombie shooter releases surprisingly soon.

The creators of the hit game series, Shantae, have given a release date for their upcoming title, The Mummy Demastered.

WayForward's new game is being called a revolution to the idea of "Metroidvania". A popular gaming term to describe the sub-genre of action adventure games that have a large open map, with obstacles blocking the player's progression until they unlock the proper equipment to get past them. The term is a portmanteau of Metroid and Castlevania, two game series that pioneered the idea.

The Mummy Demastered is a side-scrolling platformer where an elite agent (that's you) goes around a world full of undead people and animals. Not much is known about the lore beyond that, but the gameplay has been the games primarily advertised focus. At the bottom of this article, you can see a teaser trailer for The Mummy Demastered that was released on September 25th.

Earlier today, WayForward announced via Twitter that the game would release on October 24th and that it will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

This date is a surprisingly nearby one, but it's just in time to take part of the spooky spirit of Halloween. WayForward has an established reputation for creating rich and enjoyable games, and I am sure this will be no exception.
