TF2 Jungle Inferno Update Launches Today

It never ends.

Team Fortress 2 continues to be in the news for… some reason, and the folks over at Valve have a brand new expansion for their fabulous multiplayer shooter. But this time, instead of having two teams of mercenaries battle in desert wastelands or arctic tundra, Team Fortress 2 is taking its senseless violence to the jungle with a brand-new Jungle Inferno Update, which released today.

After a decade of dustbowls and gravel pits, it’s time to pack your snorkel, find your flip-flops, and endure a series of painful yellow fever vaccinations to your abdomen, because Team Fortress is heading to the tropics!

The update ships with six new maps, one designed by Valve themselves and five coming from the community. Duke it out in Mercenary Park, get blown up in Brazil, get crushed in Mossrock, and battle baddies at Banana Bay.

But it’s not just new maps (it’s NEVER just new maps). Also included in the update are new weapons, emotes, loot, and even the presumably long-awaited banjo.

There’s going to be more details about this update forthcoming in the next few days, and more content handed out to the general public. It’s neat and everything, but damn… this game is ten years old now, right? If nothing else, you can’t fault Valve for sticking to it.
