Tetris 99, the block puzzle battle royale game is getting its first batch of paid content, the Big Block DLC. To further celebrate this, Nintendo is hosting their third Maximus Cup tournament.

Available now, Nintendo Switch owners can purchase the Big Block DLC for Tetris 99. This content adds 2 offline game modes to the base game: CPU Battle and Marathon.
  • In CPU Battle, the player participates in a standard game of Tetris 99, but with computer players instead of other players online.
  • In Marathon mode, the player's main goal is to clear as many lines as they can and get the highest score.
Since both modes are played offline, they will not require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play. The Big Block DLC will cost $9.99 and is available now in the Nintendo eShop.

In the same press release, Nintendo announced the third Maximus Cup, an online Tetris 99 tournament. Starting on May 17 and running until May 19, all players with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription can participate in this free event. Participants will be awarded bonus points for playing in the tournament, regardless of if you win. Whoever earns up to 100 points during the three day period will be rewarded with an in-game theme based on the original Game Boy style.

For more information on both the Big Block DLC and the third Maximus Cup, visit the official Tetris 99 Webpage.
