Concerning complications have risen to the surface regarding the highly anticipate System Shock 3. According to past employees, countless developers have left the team.

Over the last several months, a dangerously high number of major employees have confirmed their departure with OtherSide, the development team currently working on System Shock 3. This includes the original writer, director, lead programmer, and more. The most recent departure is Chase Jones, the game's design director, who confirmed his leave on his Linkedin page.

OtherSide isn't falling apart voluntarily, either. A report in December of 2019 by the former community manager, Sam Luangkhot, confirmed the existence of several internal layoffs.

What causes the greatest concern was when an anonymous developer posted on RPGCodex about the company and their internal struggles. They claim that they "don't actually know what's going on, but the team is no longer employed there."

Luangkhot linked to the developer, confirming its legitimacy.

The complications have caught the attention of every corner in games media. It's very likely that, if OtherSide doesn't issue a statement themselves, then larger organizations with reliable insiders will reveal more themselves.

Either way, OtherSide is clearly in a state of disarray. The odds of System Shock 3 actually seeing production are a far cry at this point.

Thankfully, all of this is entirely unrelated to the System Shock remake in development by Nightdive Studios. This modern remake of the original game is safely progressing and still set to release some time this year. it's good to know we won't be entirely devoid of a new System Shock.
