Super Nintendo World Set to Open in the United States in 2023

Easier than going to Japan.

The locals of Japan have been having all of the fun since Nintendo launched their own amusement park, Super Nintendo World, in Osaka. We Americans have had to watch from afar with mild envy. But we wont need to wait too much longer. The major game company announced that a United States park will be opening as soon as next year.

According to an official statement by Nintendo on Thursday, Universal Studios Hollywood will be home to the first western rendition of Super Nintendo World, set to open in 2023.

Being their biggest bread and butter, the park will be primarily based on the Super Mario franchise. There will be storefronts, attractions, rides, and various interactive experiences based around the Super Mario world. This will include plenty of references to the characters within, like Yoshi, Toad, and Bowser. If its anything like the park that opened in Osaka, Japan, last year, it might even include a section dedicated to Donkey Kong.

Basing our expectation on the Japanese site, we can expect interactive components, like pressing buttons to deflect Koopa shells. It might even include the Augmented Reality ride based on Mario Kart.

This is fantastic news to us. Weve been wanting to experience what the amusement park has to offer, but a trip to Japan can be hard to justify (especially when considering pandemic restrictions). While Hollywood isnt exactly close by, either, its a far more convenient option for Americans who want to visit the park. Though to be honest, well probably skip out on the Mario Mushroom Burger.

Nintendo has plans to also build a park in Singapore, but details about this remain unknown.
