Super Mario Bros. doesn't really seem like a game that could be successfully transitioned into an augmented reality experience, but somehow, Abhishek Singh has managed to re-create the first level of Super Mario Bros into a first-person game for the HoloLens, Microsoft's augmented reality headset.

Microsoft has showcased the HoleLens's capabilities in the past with Minecraft, and it clearly worked, but Super Mario Bros is a different story altogether. It's still just a demo at this point, but it looks like it actually works fairly well. Some moments are pretty hard on the eyes, and I don't think anyone would be comfortable playing this in a public park considering the amount of space you need, but it's definitely a step in a new direction for augmented reality technology.
