State of Decay 3 Announced, Possibly Set in Winter

Many believe that when society falls, it will be due to disease. Some can try to escape it. They will hide away, deep in the wilderness, where no one can find, or infect, them. But eventually, it catches up to them. Introducing State of Decay 3.

A sequel to State of Decay 2, the popular zombie survival game from 2018, the third game was recently revealed to be in development during the Xbox Games Showcase on Thursday with a reveal trailer. The cinematic trailer showed a woman with a crossbow surviving on her own in a snowy woodland landscape, while traveling, she discovers the corpse of a wolf being eaten by a mutilated zombie deer.



Unfortunately, this is just about everything we know about the game. We don't know when to expect it, what gameplay will look like, or what will be different. We can speculate that it will introduce a new winter setting, since that's where the trailer was set. But even that we don't know for sure.

Not long after the release of the second game, there were rumors that the next in the series would lean further into the MMO direction, creating large scale multiplayer lobbies. But that too only feeds into the speculation.
