As if Splatoon 2 wasn't already destined to be a great game that you can enjoy on the go in almost any situation, it's about to get a whole lot more mobile even still. During today's Nintendo Direct, a new mobile app for Splatoon 2 was announced to be released alongside the game on July 21.

SplatNet 2 allows players to conveniently log into the game from the mobile device, and while you can't actually play the game, you can do things like check your statistics and purchase gear. While Splatoon 2 isn't the first game to receive a mobile app, it definitely looks very promising with the addition of a voice chat option, and the ability to organize private matches and make teams.

SplatNet 2 will be available on both iOS and Android devices.

Features:
  • Players will be able to review their previous matches, player statistics and examine the gear load out of allies and opponents.
  • A schedule will keep track of upcoming events such as map rotations for Ranked Battles and Splatfests.
  • Lifetime inkage is tracked, telling players how much ink they've fired. Players can check to see which real life monuments they could have covered with all of their ink.
  • Gear is available for purchase, which can then be picked up later in the games hubworld Inkopolis Square.
