Tekken, as a series, is known for a few things, and being too serious about itself is most decidedly not one. This is best exemplified by their roster of fighters, which has included a man made of wood, a bear, and even a boxing Kangaroo, named Roger, who joins the fray once again in Tekken 7, which was recently released as an arcade cabinet in Japan.

While Tekken 7 is still in the process of being ported to the US for PC and console, English fans of the series may become acutely aware of the fact that their version will actually be missing the famous boxing kangaroo. And sadly, that’s no accident.

"There was a video of a man's dog being headlocked by a kangaroo, and he punched it in the face. It turned into a big problem. People were complaining about him punching a kangaroo. It seems that in the last few years there's a lot more animal activists - even though they probably wouldn't play our game they would still hear about that, about a kangaroo in our game being punched, and would complain about it."

So, to avoid controversy, they’ve opted to just remove Roger from the game entirely. Call it PC gone wild, call it censorship, whatever you want to blame, one thing is for sure: we’ll be down one fighter in the English version of the game, and no one is happy about that.

…Kuma, the bear, will still be included though, because “bears are obviously stronger a than human being”.

So that makes it a bit more bearable.
