Rocksteady Reveals Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Trailer

However will they take on Aquaman?

Rocksteady, who recently got a much bigger slice of public attention following the strange accusation of alleged sexual harassment within their company, finally got the chance to show off the thing they were actually was hoping would put them back in the limelight at last weekend’s DC Fandom event, Warner Brother’s digital replacement for Comic Con.

And having seen the trailer, I only have one thing to say:

Calllllllled it.

The creators of the Batman: Arkham series are back with a brand new action-adventure shooter. The most dangerous villains in the DC Universe have been forced to team up and take on a new mission: Kill the Justice League. Create Chaos in Metropolis. You are the Suicide Squad.

I was right about just about everything: Superman is being mind-controlled, it’s a third-person brawler with a focus on co-op, and Deadshot and Harley Quinn are playable characters. I did not predict that Captain Boomerang would be involved, but that’s largely because I didn’t know he existed until I saw him in this trailer. Somehow I doubt his ability to throw a boomerang well will be key to taking down the Man of Steel, but again, what the hell do I know?

Anyway, there ultimately wasn’t a whole lot gleamed from the trailer, although we do know that we’re a long ways out from getting a chance to play it: after all, it’s launching in 2022 for Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC, which hopefully means that the top-notch animation and graphics we saw in the trailer is reflected in the final product.

One final thought: between Injustice and Suicide Squad, DC comics sure likes making Superman the bad guy in their video game offerings. Are they working through something with the guy, or are they so afraid of how badly previous Superman games worked out that they feel they need to… punish him for it…?

Whatever.
