It was always kind of funny that a company called Rockstar was about video game, and not music. Its even funnier now that Rockstar has not only started up their own record label, but that is focused on Dance music.

According to a recent announcement by Rockstar Games, the company has entered a partnership with dance music promoter CircoLoco to create a new record label, dubbed CircoLoco Records. Rockstar explains that theyre looking to help bring additional life into dance music culture through this partnership.

"CircoLoco Records will break new ground in an effort to support and elevate dance music culture during one of the most fraught periods ever experienced for clubs and represents an opportunity to elevate the scene through the collective power of these two entertainment brands."

The first record from the label will be called Monday Dreamin, releasing on July 9. Itll be a collaborative album, featuring tracks from the visionaries and icons from every era of CircoLoco's greatest parties. Before then, theyll be releasing a handful of EPs, containing a few tracks from the record.

CircoLoco has been around since 1999 and is a noteworthy player in Ibiza for their dance music related parties. The music there has been features in Grand Theft Auto in both past and recent times. Its not terribly clear what Rockstar is doing as part of this. It may simply be a funding-type of support, or they might also be providing logistical assistance to the company. Either way, we can say fairly certainly that we know where future Rockstar Games will get their dance music.
