Getting a hold of a new generation console is a struggle. Fortunately for some, they might not be missing out quite so much. Recent evidence has pointed toward Returnal, the popular sci-fi roguelike on PS5, making a debut on the Steam marketplace.
Returnal follows the trials of Selene as she is stuck in some kind of time loop on the dark and scary alien planet known as Atropos. Centered around traditional rougelike gameplay, the player participated in multiple loops and attempts in the same land, hoping to escape the dangers therein. Developed by Housemarque, the game was well rather well received, even winning a BAFTA award.
A new listing has appeared on SteamDB (found by Eurogamer). While it doesn't list the game by name, some of the localisation data inside references a variety of in-game aspects, like the players ship, the planets name, and more.
This also aligns with Sonys strategy as of late: to release their console exclusives onto PC some time after release. They previously did this with games like God of War, and Horizon: Zero Dawn, and it had proven a huge success. And just yesterday, Sony head Jim Ryan spoke at an investors presentation, claiming to expect a good $300 million on PC game sales this year. Toss in the fact that Sony now owns the games developer and it seems like a sure fire outcome.
Were all for this. We love the games that Sony puts out sometimes, but we dont exactly love the PS5 this time around. Having an option to play these titles without investing in another console is very appealing. The only question is whether our PC can actually run it or not.
