There were a fair number of developers and publishers that made some public "announcements" this April Fool's Day. While many were just jokes, others were quite real. For the upcoming Rage 2, that reality came in the form of the NBA Jam announcer.

Rage 2, the first person action shooter by Doom creators id Software, usually features hardcore rock guitar, overwhelming firepower, and a certain sense of crass. On April 1, publisher Bethesda released a new announcement trailer, showing off the "HE'S ON FIRE CHEAT CODE."

This pre-order bonus features Tim Kitzrow, the original voice actor for the NBA Jam narrator. As the player performs certain acts of carnage and destruction, Kitzrow will shout out relevant taglines (BOOM SHAKA LAKA, FROM DOWNTOWN, CAN'T TOUCH THIS, etc).

While intended as a humorous joke for April 1, Bethesda reassures us that this is a very real thing. The HE'S ON FIRE cheat code will be available to anyone who pre-orders the game, along with a number of other bonuses. This is much like Bioware, who announced a Garrus body pillow for April Fool's Day, but not as a joke.

A fun gimmick at first, but I can imagine this getting old after a while.

Rage 2 will be available on PC (Steam/Bethesda Launcher), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 14.
