Once again, they're a bit late to the party.

Boss Key Productions had little success with their edgy hero shooter, LawBreakers. Now the developers have announced that their efforts have shifted towards a new project, an 80s themed free-to-play battle royale game coming to Steam Early Access on Wednesday.

This is Radical Heights, and everything from the name to the game is saturated in the neon colors and retro arcade of the 1980s. The game offers BMX bikes, workout trampolines, confetti bombs, inflatable decoys and remote explosives. What sets this game apart from the many, many other battle royale games is that the participants are competing for cash prizes in a game show style environment. It can be compared to Smash TV or a far more ridiculous Hunger Games.

Boss Key spoke about Radical Heights in a press release.

Only in Radical Heights does in-game cash you find carry over into future matches. Play matches, collect cash, kill contestants, interact with game show elements and more to buy cosmetics from your personal prize room, or put some of that sweet cash in your bank to help buy a weapon next match quicker than your opponents. The choice is yours.

Zach Lowery, Radical Heights creative director, said the following in a statement.

This is a five month passion project for the studio as were creating and publishing the game entirely by ourselves. Were huge fans of Battle Royale games along with the bright, inviting irreverence of the 80s aesthetic. Because of that, we want to put our own spin on the genre and create a futuristic 80s world that takes place in 2023 during an over-the-top game show where contestants battle it out for fame and prizes.

Much like the current industry king Fornite, Radical Heights will be free to play when it hits Windows PC via Steam Early Access on Tuesday, April 10. People wanting more, or simply wanting to support the devs, will be able to purchase a founders pack with exclusive items and bonuses available for $14.99.
