Just make sure it's carrots that they're growing.

Some say that prison can be a place of growth. Maybe now that'll actually be true. Inmates can grow crops and promote green energy in Prison Architect: Going Green, the next DLC for the popular prison management game.

At its roots, the Going Green DLC introduces a new farming mechanic. The player will be able to set up designated farming zones for fruits, veggies, and flowers. The resulting produce can either be exported and sold or used in the prison kitchens to offset the cost of meals. They can build structures to store produce and tools, hire on farm workers, and let inmates engage in recreational flower growing to stay happy.

Not everything is sunshine and happiness, however. New benefits introduce new problems. Inmates can start growing contraband herbs, steal kitchen supplies for booze production, or claim a garden as gang turf. As the farms develop, so will the likeliness of these issues.

Since this is all pro-nature, why not throw in some eco-friendly power options while were at it. The DLC will include new solar and wind power generation options. Any excess power generated this way will be sold back to the local grid using a Power Export meter.

There's plenty of green to be made in this DLC, that's for sure. The Going Green expansion will release on PC on January 28. Assuming it will be the same price as their previous DLC, Island Bound, then it will likely cost $9.99. More information can be found on the official website.
