Overwatch's Next Hero Isn't Doomfist

24 is not who you think it is.

Overwatch fans have been busy anticipating the release of Overwatch's highly awaited 24th hero.  Most of the community has come to the conclusion that the newest hero will most likely be Doomfist, but in a recent post by Jeff Kaplan on the Overwatch forums, he explains that the 24th hero is not at all who we think it is.

The forum thread started off titled as "Sombra Sitting Emote" and quickly was changed to "Sombra Sitting Emote (plus 24th hero for some reason)".  Although Jeff addressed the reason for the void of a Sombra sitting emote, he also took the opportunity to explain what they are working on, and what their priorities lie.  Jeff explains that they have multiple new heroes in the works and that quickly releasing new heroes is taking priority over a fully completed emoticon portfolio for each hero.  As far as new content goes, I think we can all agree that we'd much rather have new heroes released faster rather than extra emotes (as tempting as a sitting emote is).

"The emotes themselves don't take months. It's more on the order of days/weeks. It's more of a prioritization issue. We have multiple new heroes being worked on right now plus numerous events and event-related content. We're always asking ourselves "what would make the biggest impact for the most people" when we prioritize. Right now, we feel like introducing a new hero to the line up would be more impactful to the game. Hope that makes sense."

Whether Jeff Kaplan is teasing the community or actually telling the truth to create even more mystery, we'll have to wait and find out.  There are some pretty big gaming conventions coming up that would be good opportunities to spill the beans.  So if were patient and lucky enough, hopefully, we'll get some more details soon.
