Overwatch has without a doubt taken the world by storm since it's release last year.  Blizzard took the everybody by surprise with this release.  A company that was wildly renowned for making arguably the best and most popular MMORPG ever managed to make one of the best shooters of our generation.  Overwatch isn't just any first person shooter, its world full of deep lore, and interesting back story.  Between the comics, animated short films and the graphic novel, Blizzard has gone above and beyond in creating an immersive world.

Overwatch won Game Of The Year in 2016 at the game awards and evidently, it's also won Game Of The Year at the DICE awards with no surprise.  With some people being a little disappointed at the fact that games like Uncharted 4 and Battlefield 1 lost to Overwatch, I feel like it's my duty to educate people on just how much Blizzard deserves this.

If you didn't already know, Blizzard had been working on a Superhero MMO for 7 years before canceling it to birth the start of Overwatch.  Overwatch was born from the ashes of a title we will never see from Blizzard.  Project Titan was a huge loss for Blizzard, but without it, we couldn't have Overwatch.  Not only did a developer with no experience in first person shooters create the best shooter of 2016, it also created one of the most inspiring games of perhaps our generation.

Game of the Year Nominees:

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
Battlefield 1
Inside
Overwatch
Pokemon Go (really?)

Keep up to date with the rest of the DICE Awards here.
