Guess what has been officially announced. No, really. I'm frothing at the mouth as a result.

I'll give you a hint. It's from Nintendo.

Guessed yet?

Well, the SNES Classic Mini is now entering production. Yes, you may now cheer and potentially cry.

So you want to know more about the release date and such?

Well for one, the SNES Classic Mini release date is on September 29, 2017. It will also be more expensive compared to the NES Classic Mini, which was $59.99. It will be priced at $79.99 and will come with two controllers and 21 titles, one of which has never been released:
  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby's Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2 (never before released)
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi's Island
Unfortunately, once the year ends, you won't be seeing any more SNES Classic Minis. Nintendo has confirmed with Kotaku that the mini console will only be sold until the end of the year.

"We arent providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition," said Nintendo in its statement. "Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from Sept. 29 until the end of calendar year 2017. At this time, we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year."

"Our long-term efforts are focused on delivering great games for the Nintendo Switch system and continuing to build momentum for that platform, as well as serving the more than 63 million owners of Nintendo 3DS family systems. We are offering Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition in special recognition of the fans who show tremendous interest our classic content."

And as far as pre-ordering goes, there are no retailers that are taking pre-orders for this system. However, once you hear the news, you better be ready! I know I will be!
