We reported way, way back in may of 2015 that Nintendo had ambitions for opening up attractions at Universal Studios, theme parks where people could explore their intellectual properties in a physical, real-world setting and enjoy locals like the mushroom kingdom as if they had fallen into someone’s magical toilet in Brooklyn.  It’s been quite a while since we’ve heard from them on that front, but that’s recently changed with this new ‘teaser interview’ where Mark Woodbury, Universal Creative and Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo godfather discuss the collaboration and goals of this quickly-evolving dream.

"The creative visionaries behind Nintendo's legendary worlds and characters are working together with the creative teams behind Universal's blockbuster theme park attractions. Their goal: to bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within Universal theme parks. And to do so in new and innovative ways that capture what makes them so special. All of the adventure, fun and whimsy you experience through a screen will now be all around you - in breathtakingly authentic ways."

Even just looking at the backdrop of the interview, I have to say I’m enticed and excited by the possibilities. Here’s hoping, when they’re finally released, they live up to the potential we’ve always known they should have… and it's more than just a Nintendo-themed parkour park.

...not that such a thing would be bad. In fact, that sounds pretty rad, the more I think about it.

Might be a bit tricky for the kids, but they can deal.
