Complete with Q&A

We previously reported on Nightdive's struggles with focus on the System Shock Kickstarter remake. It's been a while since, and the studio is back to give us an update on their progress.

The first announcement is that Jonathan H. has joined their team after providing a number of assets toward the project. They also remark on the progress they're making on the programming side of things. They hope to have the game be "playable from start to finish (sans Weapons & Enemies) by September."

The studio also announced a list of days where they'll be live streaming part of the development process. They've held 10 streams so far, ranging from modeling to coding, and these streams will continue to until the end of May. You can see a full list of who will be playing on what days on their blog post. The live streams will take place at their Twitch channel.

They post concludes with a Q&A, with questions provided by the studio's Discord server. The focus of the questions seems to be in regards to the previously mentioned change in focus and direction. In it, they confirm the following:
  • The game will still be coming to PS4 and Xbox One (implied Linux and Mac, as well).
  • All physical backer rewards will still be produced. Though the details regarding the specific items are subject to change.
  • All of the previously established stretch goals will remain.
  • They currently have a two-person team working specifically on Cyberspace, but they have nothing to confirm regarding it otherwise.
  • Roughly 55 percent of the game has been blocked out (grey boxed, physically mapped out, or whatever terminology you prefer).
  • There are no alpha or beta signups, but Kickstarter backers will be the first to know if that changes.
It seems we're still far away from the release of this game, though I remain hopeful all the same. The update's full details, as well as some new screenshots, can be found in their Kickstarter post.
