Hey, remember that Monster Hunter movie that Paul W.S. Anderson, the dude behind the Resident Evil movies, was working on? Yeah, me neither. But that's probably just one of the reasons they decided to release a new trailer for the movie adaption of the world-famous video game series, which includes our first real look at the aforementioned monsters.

It's 16 seconds of confused looks and screaming. Incidentally, those things also show up in the teaser.

Now, someone familiar with the games might be wondering why we have modern-day military personnel in an armored truck fighting Diablos, since neither of those things have much of a presence in the games in question. But Paul W.S Anderson's thing has always been his willingness to take what he likes from the source materials and turn it into the equivalent of B-grade Hollywood fanfiction, for better or for worse.

For something like Monster Hunter, that might be an example of "for better", since the games have never really been known for their stellar plots or strong characterization.

In any case, the movie has been pushed off to 2021 for obvious reasons, so assuming it's not released on a streaming platform, we'll have something to look forward to in theaters next year.
