NeoGAF Has Gone Offline After Sexual Assult Accusations

One of the biggest video game forums, NeoGAF, has been offline for a majority of the day.

Late last night, allegations of sexual assault were spreading against Tyler Malka, the owner of NeoGAF.com. This led to community members making statements on the site affirming extremely inappropriate behavior towards women by Tyler. This caused a swarm of posts discussing the topic, ranging from negative to positive. It was impossible to avoid all of the talks until around midnight last night, that is, when the site itself went offline.

NeoGAF has been around since 2006 and grown to be a staple source of gaming discussion and information since then. It had become commonplace for industry representatives and developers to post otherwise unknown information and an all-around primary hub for fans of video games. For it to have what seems to be intentionally shut down has certainly caused waves online.

The influx of posters has also brought about those writing self-destructive posts, with the intention of getting banned. Since NeoGAF had fairly stern guidelines and rules in place, this task wasn't a difficult one to achieve. This has caused enough stress to the forum staff to the point of many of the moderators have said to quit.

It is rumored that NeoGAF will be preparing a statement about the recent controversy, but at the time of this writing, nothing has been said, and the site remains down. Be sure to check back here for updates regarding the future of the site and its owner.
