With such a wide cast of super powered students, this almost seems inevitable. The popular manga/anime My Hero Academia is getting its own battle royale game, and itll be free to play. Introducing My Hero Academia: Ultra Rumble.
Major game company Bandai Namco (whos handled My Hero Academia content in the past) will be producing and publishing the game. The announcement, however, comes from the most recent issue of Weekly Jump Magazine, a popular Japanese publication dedicated to manga. Shared by Gematsu, the two-page promotion shows off over-the-shoulder shooter style mechanics, four person squads, and cinematic camera angles for something. Of course, everyone is controlling popular characters from the franchise.
Further examination reveals that the game is intended to release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Prior to release, closed beta tests will be held.
All things considered, were left feeling very skeptical about how this game will perform. While the show and manga are tremendously popular, all the existing game adaptions have been underwhelming. They had a 3D fighting game in 2018 and a sequel to that in 2020, neither of which were very well-liked. Combining this unimpressive track record with the already over saturated (and in our opinions, run-dry) genre of free to play battle royale, were left with little hope that this will be a worthwhile experience. Though we will know for sure when it releases.
