They say that behind every great man, lies a greater woman. Now that woman has risen to our ranks in Monster Hunter: World. Lunastra, the flaming blue lion, comes to the game in a free update known as the 4.0 update.

Lunastra is the female mate to the other elder dragon, Teostra, and she packs a heavier punch than him too. Before World, she was a monster in Monster Hunter: Frontier Z in Japan in 2016 and Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite worldwide in 2009. Now that they're together in the battlefield, Lunastra and Teostra alike are more dangerous than ever. Instead of fighting, the two monsters will twirl in tandem to unleash a powerful blast.

The monster came to Monster Hunter: World on May 31 as part of a free update. Like the previous updates, this also includes new weapons and armor that can be crafted from Lunastra parts. This new gear shares the beat's likeness in design: metallic, blue, and firey. This time you can combine this gear with those of other elder dragons for different effects, such as Nergigante or XenoJiiva.

Announced alongside the update are the new Arch Tempered Elder Dragons. These are extra tough variations of the already toughest monsters. The first one will be an Arch Tempered Kirin, which will become available at a later date.

The update also comes with a few quality of life improvements, such as acquiring investigations for tempered monsters while fighting them. The full details about these changes can be found on the Capcom release notes.

Lunastra and update 4.0 is live now for Monster Hunter: World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a PC release expected later this year.
