Since the release of Monster Hunter: World for consoles, new and old fans of the series have been clamoring for a Monster Hunter for the Nintendo Switch (in the United States, anyway). Unfortunately, while there has been a desire to bring the game to the console, the task would prove not only to be difficult but also gargantuan.

But that doesn't mean that there will be no similar title heading to the West for the Switch. Today, it has been announced by Capcom that Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on August 28. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, otherwise known as Monster Hunter XX in Japan, has originally launched for the 3DS underneath the name Monster Hunter Generations, but this updated version will feature an expanded monster roster, more hunting methods, and "G Rank" quests. Not only that but if you have save data from the original title, you'll be able to transfer that save data to the Switch version.

Here is what you'll expect overall with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate:

Monstrous Roster - There will be a diverse cast of returning fan favorites, new "Deviant" monsters, Elder Dragon Valstrax, and a new endgame boss, dubbed Ahtal-Ka. You'll have a lot to do with unique quest targets and gear farming for smithing and enhancement. Ultimate will include Deviant forms (super hard forms) of all members of the "Fated Four." Some new challenging fiends are:
  • Boltreaver Astalos
  • Elderfrost Gammoth
  • Soulseer Mizutsune
  • Bloodbath Diablos
  • Nightcloak Malfestio
  • Rustrazor Ceanataur
Hunt Your Way - There will be two new styles to utilize in Ultimate. There is alchemy style, which allows you access to a barrel that, when shaken up, can distribute special items, buff your party members, or create unique attacks, making you an amazing support hunter. Then there is the valor style, which not only sounds cool but will require memorization and knowledge of the enemy. Maximizing your damage relies on bets on your health bar. Perfect for insane hunters.

Puttin' the G in ChallenGe - Since there have been quite a few additions to the game, monster hunting could be made a little easier. Well, what if you don't want that? Hence, G Rank! G Rank only features the toughest of foes, ready to maul you in a matter of seconds. These monsters have not only new attacks but also new behaviors. And you will receive only the best gear available. So make sure to form a team if you want to succeed.
