Looks like Miiverse will soon be no more. Or will be in a few months. Nintendo has announced that Miiverse, its odd social network that is synonymous with the Wii U, is shutting down on November 8th, 2017. Additionally, TVii will be closing down.

This announcement has only been made in Japan so far. I mean, the TVii in the US has been done for over a couple of years now.

Miiverse has been known for some crazy hand-drawn posts, and people all over the internet are now in mourning over the service, even though the plug hasn't been pulled yet (in Japan). Nintendo, however, said that it will provide a way for users to download and archive their posts through the web version of the Miiverse.

So far, nothing social network-related has been announced for the Switch. Maybe it's time? Or perhaps it will remain strictly a game tool.
