A bit of bad luck has struck the development offices of Capcom as a massive leak is spreading images, video, and marketing plans regarding Resident Evil 8.

Last month, game publisher/developer Capcom was at the hands of a ransomware attack. A massive collection of market data, marketing strategies, and future game content was stolen. After not meeting the attackers demands, much of the data has been leaked online. This included a large collection of developer views of the upcoming Resident Evil 8: Village.

No, I'm not going to share any of it. The original 4Chan board where the content was being shared has been taken down, it seems, along with any Imgur posts resharing the content. If you're really curious about the leaks in general, this Tweet has some worthwhile information.

The content shared around appeared to have been from a development build of the game, leading most to believe that it's related to the ransomware attack.

It's worth noting that development builds almost always contain unofficial assets and features. The final product will undoubtedly look different. The most spoilery of this content lies with the story elements that were revealed alongside the rest. These are unlikely to change in a meaningful way.

Those wanting to avoid spoilers may want to mute or block words like Resident Evil 8 and Village. Our sympathies go out to the Capcom employees that might have had their own information leaked.

Resident Evil 8: Village will release (on its own terms) some time in 2021.
