Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch is officially the fastest selling game in the Mario kart series. With a whopping 459,000 copies sold in the U.S. alone on launch day, it has surpassed the previous record of 433,900 that was set by Mario Kart Wii back in 2008. That's not the only surprising statistic that comes from the game's launch day sales either.

It has been stated by Nintendo that the 459,000 copies that were sold on launch day equate to an attach rate of 45 percent in the United States. That means the ratio of copies sold in the U.S. to Switches owned in the U.S. is about 1:2. Almost one in two Nintendo Switch owners ended up purchasing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on launch day alone.

If that still is not enough to convince you of the game's success, we have another statistic to throw at you. In the 15 years that the Mario Kart series has been alive, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has the highest review ratings. It has a Metacritic score of 93, which makes it tied for the highest spot on the list with Mario Kart: Super Circuit that launched for the Game Boy Advance.

If you own a Switch and haven't purchased this game, you better start saving up your cash. This game is as hot as fire right now and it has worked it's way on to the "must buy" list for the Switch console. With the limited selection available right now, you have to pick this one up. You won't be disappointed and you can look forward to hours of high speed fun on the track.
