Konami is Turning Frogger into a Game Show

Hop to it, I guess.

Konami might not be making games anymore, but they’re certainly not shy about making money using the video game properties they own. They turned Castlevania into a netflix anime, turned Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid into Pachinko machines, and now they’re turning Frogger into a TV show — and you, yes you, can sign up to compete in it!

From a brand-new website I had to look at with my eyes:

AMERICA’S POPULAR ARCADE GAME IS ABOUT TO GET SUPERSIZED!

FROGGER

Jump back to the 80’s in this toadally radical physical competition game show!

Fans of the classic video game will dodge treacherous traffic, leap over snapping gators and hop over hungry hippos to conquer the course.

Whether you're a thrill seeker with a thirst for adventure or a BIG personality ready to make a splash...

Don’t miss this HOPportunity to compete for a HUGE CASH PRIZE!

So if I’m understanding this right — and I really might not be — this is a game show where people will have to jaywalk across incredibly busy traffic and avoid killer allegators in order to make it from one end of the road to the other. If you manage to do this without dying, you get paid.

While I very much doubt you’ll be actually jaywalking or dealing with actual crocodiles — it’ll probably be very similar to The Floor is Lava, that gameshow on Netflix that involves very little actual lava — the concept itself, boiled down… just kinda feels like a weaker version of America Ninja Warrior? Little bit? I dunno, it’s not that exciting to me, but then, I guess I’m just not interested in a hopportunity to win a huge cash prize. Although a free trip to Australia might be cool.

You can apply for the hopportunity yourself using the website linked above, if you’ve got a death wish.
