The first beta play test of Overwatch 2 is now here! From now over the next three weeks, select fans will get the chance to participate in an invite-only PvP beta. This will be our first hand-on look at the highly anticipated hero shooter game from Blizzard.

Starting today at 11am PT, and running until May 17, Blizzard is hosting a private PvP beta for Overwatch 2. People who visit the beta opt-in page and choose to do so have a chance of receiving an email with further information on how to participate.

There are a few limitations to keep in mind. One is that you need to own a copy of overwatch and have it installed to participate. The second is that it will only be for PC, and not consoles. If you dont own overwatch, you can download the game free as part of a free trial taking place during the Beta. Currently, the beta is limited to North America, Europe, Latin America/Brazil, Korea, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.

If you dont get a chance to play in the beta, try not to worry. Blizzard has already confirmed that future beta tests will be taking place and that this is only the first. And since progress will not carry over to the live game, you aren't going to be behind anyone in progress.

One other way to gain beta access will be through Twitch Drops. For those who arent familiar: by watching select Twitch livestreamers playing the game (yes, the beta can be recorded and livestreamed by anyone without issue), you can earn access to the beta. If you watch at least 4 total hours from any of the chosen streamers listed here, you become eligible for a drop.

And lastly, here are the system requirements.

Minimum (targeting 30fps):
  • Operating system: Windows® 7 / Windows® 8 / Windows® 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • Processor: Intel® Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650
  • Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 600 series, AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Storage: 50 GB available hard drive space
Recommended (targeting 60fps on medium settings):
  • Operating system: Windows® 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • Processor: Intel® Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5
  • Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 or AMD R9 380
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Storage: 50 GB available hard drive space
Good luck getting into the beta, everyone!
