Hitman 3, the highly anticipated stealth assassination game, will feature a whole new degree of immersion. A new trailer by developers IOI Interactive reveals virtual reality support for not only the upcoming game, but the two games before it!

The trailer, running a minute and a half long, shows Agent 47 entering a ritzy social event. Upon walking up to a table where two women are talking, the camera moved inward to show a first person perspective. After a moment, the agent follows his target into the bathroom, where they pull out piano wire.

Virtual reality will be part of the full game when it releases in January 2021. While the footage says it supports PlayStation VR, the video description and title only say VR, implying that it will also be available on PC versions of the game, though this was not confirmed. Nothing else is really known about the feature at this time besides their intention to include it, honestly.

We also noticed that the video description reads "Play the entire World of Assassination trilogy in VR when HITMAN 3 launches in January 2021." This sounds like the previous main line Hitman games will also be available in VR. Or at least the levels from the old games. Though even less information is available about this.

Either way, this is a surprising and welcome addition to the franchise. More and more major developers have been seeing the viability of VR for their games, bringing the format further into the mainstream. We'll be keeping our eyes on this one, for sure.
