Microsoft kickstarted their E3 press event last Sunday with a small trailer for Halo: Infinite. While the video left many questions unanswered, discussions afterward have helped fill the gaps.

The trailer was more of a preview of the Slipspace engine than anything, which 343 Studio head Chris Lee explained as a necessity.

"Halo: Infinite is an ambitious new game and we needed to build a new engine to support that."

343 clarified in a blog post that the trailer was meant to showcase the engine and not the game, a fact left unsaid at the at the on-stage presentation. Halo: Infinite is still a long time away, which is reinforced by the post title, "Our Journey Begins."

Lee has since confirmed that Infinite will be centered around Master Chief after the events of Halo 5. Though that's all we know about the game's story so far.
