Guild Wars 2 Introduces New Expansion, Path of Fire

Guild Wars 2 has been my MMO of choice for a while now. While I may not play it anymore, there was a time when I was in love with its more skill-based gameplay and a more authentic, living story. Unfortunately, that living story is also the reason I've stopped playing, as I was forced to give up on the game for a while right as the events of Heart of Thorns took place. Now, two years later, I feel like the plot of the game has gone past me, and like an apathetic comic fan, I have no interest in catching up on what I missed. It's a lot to read.

But soon the gap between where I was and what I missed will grow even wider, as the next big expansion for Guild Wars 2 was just announced: introducing Path of Fire!
 

 

Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire is the second expansion for the award-winning game, Guild Wars 2. As the balance of magic comes undone, lead your allies in the hunt for the arrogant god Bathazar, whose scorched earth campaign against the Elder Dragons threatens the very existence of Tyria.

Unlike most MMO's, Guild War 2 expansions don't increase the level cap for your character. Rather, to keep the playing field relatively fair, it gives you access to new alternative abilities in what's called an elite specialization. This expansion looks to do just that, but on top of new specializations and a whole new story, this expansion will also add mounts for the first time in the game's history, giving players a new way to explore Tyria.
